Sunday Session #10: X

“X” marks the spot. This week Memorial Day blessed us with a bonus day so we got more spots and more faces crammed into our weekly ditty. Check out tricks from Russell Day, Ryan Parker, Chris Couture, Steve Steinmetz, Chris Waters, and a special appearance from Brian Aragon. Thanks as always to all the SD homies for shredding and thanks to Max Manning for kicking in on filming duties, too.

Sunday Session #9: City High

Injuries, graduation, commitments… we were down in numbers but up in spirits as this week’s session started off at Robb Field skatepark with none other than Ryan Northway! After Ryan had to say goodbye we hit the streets with Chris Couture and Louie Zamora to do deals. While Louie broke in some new blades and tended to the abundant application of Irish Spring (in lieu of wax), Chris stacked tricks. Here’s what all went down!

And for another look at one of the featured spots, check this Photo Journal from Steve Steinmetz.

Barely Dead Lost Interviews, Part 2: Jess Dyrenforth

In 2006, many of rollerblading’s most influential individuals were interviewed for the documentary Barely Dead. Six years later, these interviews provide intriguing commentary on the growth and progression of rollerblading and blade culture.

While fashions may have changed and companies have come and gone, the words spoken by these blading leaders capture the many complex nuances of rollerblading life. Watch for some rollerblading history from the recent past that we all experienced together.

There are many more to come.

Sunday Session #8: California Sun

“Well I’m going out west where I belong…” Weeks of overcast Sundays gave way to an unexpectedly warm session befitting a title “California Sun.” Ryan Parker, Carlos Jaquez and Tim Franken — three transplants from points east — cruised spots old and new to put a lid on the first two months of weekly Sunday Session edits. Guess appearance by Adam Bonato who hulks out on the last spot.

Sunday Session #7

The sessions keep growing! This week we were six cars deep as our mob hit up a bunch of spots. Russell Day, Andrew DiPaolo, Ryan Parker, Tim Franken, Chris Couture… just some of the dudes out for the day’s shred. Thanks, as usual, to the crew for coming out and doing deals.

EDIT* I liked how the first one came out

Bladed at the start of the day until I got fucking wrecked.  Snapped a few photos here and there afterwards but I mostly filmed 2nd angles for ONE blade mag’s Sunday Sessions weekly edit.  Stay tuned

Here are the effortless photos from Sunday.  Edited a couple.

I need to start saving for that flash setup already

Sunday Session #6

Sunday Sessions hits the six week anniversary as Andrew DiPaolo, Tim Franken, Carlos Jaquez, Opie Tran, Adam Bonato and Russell Day take to the streets. This one was kind of a bitch — capped ledges, cars nearly locked in a parking lot, disappearing spots, etc etc… but in the end Russell led everyone to another “perfect” SoCal spot and the gang got down.

Those Left Premiere in San Diego
Written by ONE Staff - Published on Sunday, April 29th, 2012

On Saturday night, San Diego bladers congregated at SDSF Ocean Beach to check out the premiere of Max Manning’s Those Left. Long story short: Max has been filming for a bunch of projects, and, yup, this is everything that didn’t get eaten up by the bigger fish. Featuring main profiles with Alex Wick, Russell Day, Chris Couture, Drew Powell, Ryan Parker and more, the video is fast and furious. You’ll see more of the flick later, but here’s a look at the faces that came out to enjoy the night.

Sunday Session #5

This week we rolled with a mob, twelve dudes deep. Not a regular thing for San Diego blading. But it was awesome. The session started out at Tom Franken’s grind box but quickly spread to street spots, and that’s what you see here. Big thanks to all the homies for coming out and killing it. See you next week.
